Safer Online Credit Card Processing Services

Processing online credit card transactions are about to become even safer both for you as the merchant and your customers.  These new safeguards are courtesy of the U.S. Government and its efforts of further reducing safety breaches such as identity theft and other vulnerabilities sometimes found in various cyber environments.  While you rely on FDIS to ensure the safest precautions are always in place, we are encouraged by efforts in Washington that will allow companies such as FDIS to institute even more layers of security for clients.

While many of the suggestions are not yet instituted, the government is currently listening to consumers and business owners in an effort to ensure these safety measures are put into place while also not impeding too much into citizens’ privacy rights.  It’s a fine line, but the transparency being used is going a long way, say many insiders.

White House cyber coordinator Howard Schmidt says the new technological advances are advantageous and benefits our society greatly; however, it also provides thieves opportunities as well.  These new measures will ideally address any vulnerabilities from the internet as a whole.  So what are some of these measures?  Digital certificates from service providers and smart identity cards are two recommendations being considered and will go a long way in keeping online credit card processing and e-mobile credit card processes safer.

Schmidt goes on to say digital authentication has been the biggest success in internet security since the early 1990s and these new measures will pull from the success of these authentication measures.  The success will depend on how well it is received by consumers and business owners.  Banks and other financial institutions already incorporate many of these measures and these latest government measures will expand further on the measures already proven.

You can be sure FDIS is watching closely the developments as they happen and will always make its decisions based on what’s best for its clients.  We welcome any questions or feedback and look forward to hearing from our clients.  Visit our site or give us a call at 877-550-8671 and if you’d like to see the draft report, visit the government’s site here.
