New Law Goes into Affect Today
In a previous post, we told you about the new laws slated to go into effect on July 1, 2010. That day has arrived and every payment processing application should be in compliance with this new federal law. Ensuring compliance is important for business owners for many reasons. The repercussions for those who are not prepared could be risking the loss of their businesses. Not only that, but if a credit card processing network is not in compliance and information is stolen because of it, the business owner could be held responsible for reimbursements and any other costs associated with the stolen data. It’s important to remember, too, waiting until the last minute could mean a block of time that you’re not in compliance. Your credit card processing network could be left vulnerable. There is that small window of time that puts you at a big disadvantage.
So what does the new PCI and PA-DSS Compliance Regulations mean for you? Primarily, the goal is to provide an additional layer of security that will protect not only you and your business, but also your customers, as well. Because you chose FDIS, you can be sure we have your bases covered from this aspect. Still, there are those specific directives that require your attention.
For more information on these changes and what they mean for your small business, visit the Security Standards Council or give FDIS a call at 877-550-8671. We’re here to help and answer any questions you might have.
